Before you ask.
Is this the same as the GOV.UK MOT checker? +
We use the same publicly available DVSA data as GOV.UK's checker, but present it with mileage analysis, fault explanations and history in one view. Carlytics is an independent service, not part of GOV.UK.
Do I need the owner's permission to check a vehicle? +
No. MOT history is public for any vehicle registered in Great Britain and Northern Ireland — you only need the registration number.
How far back does the history go? +
Every test on record, typically back to when the vehicle turned three years old and first required an MOT.
Is my search linked to my name or account? +
Basic checks don't require a login and aren't linked to your identity. See our privacy policy for how full reports are handled.
